Evan This Week
So we think Evan has some teeth coming through in a few weeks. I can feel them, hard, on the front of his lower gums.
Evan loves when Daddy gets home and they have some time together. Evan also enjoys some crawling around in the buff after bath time.
His new thing is to growl and he is doing it in the open mouth picture above while he was eating. He also was making funny faces when I gave him a bit of egg yolk. He didn't see to care for it but he would smile when I would laugh at his face and the result was the scrunched up smile.
He is also very into banging toys together and is fascinated when a toy is placed within another toy, such as the football in the cup above.
What a cutie.
Have a good weekend everyone! It finally cooled down here and we have already been on a couple walks. I know we will enjoy the weekend outside.

Beat the Heat
It is so hot here! Of course I think it is hot everywhere else too so you may not have sympathy. But when one has a baby, it is difficult when you can't get out. Evan is getting grumpy in the afternoons as we don't go on our usual walk or visit to the park. Going to the grocery store is our big trip late in the day now.
Evan is pretty much crawling. He moves forward in different ways, sometimes on his knees. He also started pushing himself up into a sitting position the other day. He knew exactly what he did too because he was VERY pleased with himself.
So sitting up on his own puts a wrench in our bedtime routine. As soon as we leave the room Evan sits up and starts crying in his crib. It is as if he doesn' t know what to do from there. We go in after a few minutes and lay him down and he sits up again. We are going to modify his bedtime routine a bit due to this new skill. We usually rock him before bed for some snuggle time but now he just squirms too much for that to be relaxing. So I think now is the time to sit with a book or for some light play with a stuffed animal before bed.
He is growing fast and into everything. In one of the above pictures you will see he crawls over to the window to sit and watch the birds on the feeders.
Evan has also gone with us to visit friends and had them over. We saw Elisabeth and Sharat a few weeks ago. Elisabeth is due by the middle of next month. Sandrine stopped by to visit as well and Evan was very pleased.

Cara Mia!
I find it very difficult to believe many times as I am sifting to our thousands of photos of him, that there are only 7 1/2 months behind those complex expressions.
I hope he retains this openness to life for a long time and I know we all enjoy witnessing his budding personality.

Evan is "Crawling"
Evan was watching a gardening clip on Teletubbies when he spotted me and that is when we had forward motion. He can't decide if he wants to push off of his toes or his knees but he is getting there.
The little man has been so tired after all this he pretty much passes out as soon as I lay him down in the crib for naps.

New Crib Toy and Biter Biscuit on the Belly
We bought Evan a new crib toy and boy is it great! Can't you tell Evan thinks so? He goes down easier with the soothing music and in the morning he will turn it on and watch it and play with the little spinner doo-dads. It is an undersea adventure with bubbles and sea creatures!
Also Evan is eager to feed himself so we give him biter biscuits. They are VERY messy as you can see. They also get very slippery and here is one after slipping from Evan's fingers and immediately cemented to his tummy.
We are getting ready for another hot week and we are hosting a playdate for about 5 babies and moms on Wednesday so Evan is excited for company. Hopefully he will be a little more accomodating this playdate as the last one we hosted Evan napped through the whole thing.

Happy Independence Day!!!!
First we went to a very small local parade and we hung out there for a bit and Evan got up in the fire truck.
Later in the day, as he has done every day here, Evan went swimming and laid out pool side.
Then our family came over and Evan played with Tracy, Will and Maryn. Evan really enjoyed Maryn and was very interested in clutching her face and hair. Maryn was as sweet as can be and Evan received many kisses and hugs from her.
Later we grilled out and sat outside while Grandad cooked and enjoyed the pretty day.
The finale of the day was the impressive bootleg pyrotechnic show put on by my brother, Mike, and his friends. A few times we ran away from the fear of a wayward bomb, but everyone survived.
It was Evan's first time staying up late for a special occasion and we blocked his ears with cottonballs. Evan seemed to enjoy the show!
I hope you all had a good 4th!
