100 Posts!!!!

This is the 100th post on Evan's blog! Wow that is a lot of Evan updates! We have had a lot going on lately and I will fill you in on it hopefully very soon.

Anyway, yesterday was Evan's friend Penelope's 2nd birthday party at a fun local place called Pullen Park. It is a lot of fun with a very very old fashioned carousel and a fun train! Lately the train is out of commission due to some joy stealing vandals.

Evan's favorite part of going anywhere isn't really the destinations but exploring. He could spend hours walking around a park just looking at everything.

Here we go ready to party!



The first carousel ride of the day. James didn't know the flash was off so all the pictures came out blurry, but I liked the look on Evan's face in this one despite the blur. Evan kept trying to push my hands off so he could ride alone! But he is not quite ready for that!



Time to go back to get something to eat and watch Penelope blow out her candle!



Another highlight for Evan, playing with a cup of ice and sticking the straw in and out, in and out.



Evan spent a good amount of time enjoying the geometric pattern of these paving stones. It was hard to tear him away!



Again on the carousel, fighting Daddy to ride by himself. You can see the mood progression as the carousel started spinning, despite Evan's confinement.

Some Evan Updates

We visited my parents for a few days and we got to see some friends. Here is Evan visiting Nate, Tina and John's little boy. Nate was very interested in Evan, but Evan didn't quite no what to make of Nate.



Here is Evan enjoying his favorite kind of food, and that is any kind you find at a cook out. Evan LOVES grilled hotdogs and baked beans.



If Evan spills a few beans he will put them back with their bean friends, one by one. He is very serious about it, and here is his serious face right after reintegrating some wayward baked beans.



You can't tell from this photo, but this is right after Evan is attempting to jump up into the air. He basically throws his arms up and stands on his tip toes at the same time. He hasn't quite mastered the jump yet. He is still thrilled by the attempt though.



As Evan gets more physical he gets more daring. Today he was running across the house full tilt and tripped and hit his head on our front door. He has quite a little lump on the right side of his forehead.

Evan is 21 Months Old!

I could not get him to smile for this picture to save my life! Evan is 21 months old and approaching 2 full steam ahead. He definately likes things to be his way at times! Evan likes doors closed, drawers closed, dishwasher door closed, items put back in drawers in their proper places and your clothes on straight.

We also discovered the reason why Evan has not been saying "Mama" or anything of the sort. He has been saying "Yeah" with gusto for months and last week it finally clicked for me that I am indeed, "Yeah." All the reinforcement and joy I have expressed at Evan shouting "Yeah!" at me has just cemented in his mind that I am "yeah" Now whenever he says it too me I say, "Mommy!" But he just repeats "Yeah!" back at me and sometimes shakes his head telling me that I am Yeah, not Mommy.

Evan finally started pointing at things as well which helps our communication a bit. He still hasn't quite learned how to take a bite out of something so I am still cutting up his sandwhiches into tiny squares.







Last week we went to see my friend Emily who had Miller, back in July. It was so nice seeing them and Miller is such a sweetie pie. Seeing him really brings back some memories and I certainly don't have long to wait to relive them either!

Ahh remember this? The blissful newborn "I fell asleep at the bottle" look.



Emily looks great! Evan was very curious about Miller and noticed him in his swing as soon as we walked in the house. He didn't want to have a lot to do with him, though he was curious about Miller's bottle. Evan shook it and couldn't quite figure out how to get the "milk" out.





When I held Miller Evan was pretty displeased. He turned over some picture frames on Emily's shelves in quite a display of anger. He also ran to the next room and tried to smoosh himself between the ottoman and chair. Then when we were leaving and saying bye bye to Miller and Emily, Evan tried to give Miller a nice slap in the face. Ahhh if only he knew what was to come. I guess I will have to get baby Drew a newborn hockey mask and pads.
