Evan is teething so we bought some sugar free popsicles. This is a great picture because it was about the only moment he could really hold it upright. Evan makes the most of his opposable thumb by holding anything with a handle between his thumb and forefinger. The result being anything top heavy is very hard for him to maneuver and he ends up dragging the item around in his pincer grasp. He has tried to maneuver heavy metal pots by the tip of their handles! Evan is also not so sure he likes the icey cool refreshment of a popsicle yet either.
Evan is walking like a pro now and the "cowboy" or "drunken sailor" walk is almost non-existant except on deep sand or other uncommon surfaces. I was getting Evan ready for bath time the other night and as usual he flees with his clothes start coming off. Here he is walking very matter of factly back down the hallway, even swinging his arms.
And Evan being cute:
Evan actually climbs up and sits in his chair now. I think he gets a kick out of knowing it is only his chair and nobody else sits in it.
Funny face.
Finally, this is Evan's look much of the time now as several molars are pushing their way through. Poor guy, I hope it isn't for much longer.

Evan Updates
Sharat and Lavanya gave Evan a belated birthday present; a musical instrument kit. Actually they are more rhythm instruments, including some of his new favorites, the cymbals and tamborine.
Evan loves to explore and recently he likes the way his hands or fingers look from the other side of things.
Evan is not a mouthy baby, he doesn't just stick any old item in there. If he does put something unpleasant in there, say a wood chip, he spits it out pretty quickly. So when he is leaning over and biting on the steering wheel of his stoller, I know he is sending me a clear message: "My teeth hurt!"
Finally Evan is getting very interested in feeding himself. I help him scoop food onto the spoon or fork and he does the rest. He is doing very well!

Another Nice Day
Evan and I went out to meet some of his friends at the North Carolina Museum of Art today. The babies ran around and had a lot of fun. Evan went up and down and up and down the hill so much he was so tired he slept 3 hours this afternoon.
Up the hill...
What are you doing Mom?
Playing on the bench. Cracks are "almost" as good as holes.
Evan and his friends, Tera and Ryan.

Evan on the Greenway and 15 Months Old
We took Evan to the Capital Area Greenway yesterday. We started walking on the portion near the North Carolina Museum of Art. There are several interesting pieces of art on the beginning of the walk and it is gorgeous.
Evan enjoying the Whirligig made by a farmer from Wilson, NC, Vollis Simpson. You can't see it in this picture but the breeze moves all the parts on it. Evan really thought it was neat!
Next stop was "Trail Heads" by Patrick Dougherty. It looks like a big bird's nest and was a lot of fun. Evan wasn't too sure about walking on the new surfaces though so he stood inside and enjoyed it.
Finally, Evan was 15 months old on Friday. He is walking really well now and his first word is Dada. If you come over to say hello he will probably call you Dada! When I tell evan "No" now he says "DA!" and pops himself in the belly or cheek. Strange child.

Spring is on Its Way
We have been enjoying the great weather this week. It was 80 degrees on Thursday, but it finally cooled down this weekend. The good news is warm weather is back on the way next week.
Now that Evan can walk it is really nice to get out and let him run around and get his energy out and explore the world. Yesterday Evan turned 15 Months old but I forgot to take the usual pictures with Bear and the palm pilot. I will take those later today once Evan is dressed.
The downside of Spring coming is that Evan is waking at the crack of dawn, and that keeps getting earlier and earlier.
Here is Evan at the playground. We were there with my playgroup. Notice he made a beeline to the holes in the playset, Mr. Pokey Finger strikes again.
Evan opens doors and drawers and often "stores" his toys away in them.
This is after it cooled down. We let Evan walk out to the car with us now and he was very interested in the bushes outside our apartment.
Every night before bed we read books to Evan. I pays very good attention to the books and it is a really nice part of our routine. Evan sits through 3-4 books an evening. He definately has his favorites. Here James is reading him "But Not the Hippopotamus" by Sandra Boynton.
