A Pokey Walk and a Cookout

There is nothing Evan likes better these days then going for a walk at his own pace and his own direction. He is slowly learning that in certain places he has to hold hands or he will be picked up. We do like to let him wander though and give him plenty of opportunities to explore in his own time.

Here we go for a walk around outside! How exciting!

We made it out front, now where should we go?

Of course we stop and look at birds, cars, airplanes, well everything really.

Of course we stop to feel all the leaves and flowers.

Never forget to stop and poke the holes.

and poke.

On our way back inside! 50% of the time this isn't Evan's choice and he gets pretty upset, but when it is "his idea" it is ok.

My playgroup managed to have a cookout in the hours between 2 big thunderstorms yesterday. It was a lot of fun and the food was all really great. Of course there were plenty of puddles to stomp around in and most of the babies got pretty muddy! When we first arrived it was still raining but it quickly cleared up to be a beautiful few hours. My playgroup was celebrating our 1 year anniversery of playdates together!

Evan stomping in puddles. A toddler's dream come true!

Penelope, the ball hog.

Where are your pants Evan? Oh yes you sat down in a nice thick puddle of mud and we had to take them off!

Here is a picture from our first playdate. Penelope is in the foreground and Evan is being held in sitting position. He still couldn't even sit up when we first started getting together and spent many a playdate with a view from flat on the floor!
