Suey Suey!

Calling all little piggies! For the first time Evan fed himself! They were cheerios, and then little blobs of baby food. He is in a growth spurt and I guess hunger is a good inspiration for milestones!

Evan grabbed Cheerios in his little fingers and *pop* in the mouth they go. He gags frequently on the texture which bothers me a bit, so I think I am going to pick up some biter biscuits for him to gnaw on.

Here are the messy results. I am also including a picture of him in his Johnny Jumper with his new Robeez shoes on his feet. He jumps much higher with them on I think because they protect his toes from being smashed.

In the second picture Evan is looking away from the camera because Daddy got home from work and that is always a joyous time for Evan. So sweet.

Not the weekend?

I almost said "have a good weekend" I wonder where my head is? I think it was gone during pregnancy anyway.

I am excited to head up to Virginia on Thursday for the 4th weekend. The pool is going to be oh so nice considering the recent oppressive sauna that is our weather.

Evan has taken to getting up on all fours (knees) and rocking back and forth anticipating forward motion. The will and the dive are there, but not the motion. When he does crawl we are all in trouble, especially Chloe and Simon.

Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Sitting!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

So I have been propping Evan to sit for weeks now and then we had a playdate on Wednesday and he sat on his own for over an hour!

So I took these at home to show how well he sits. Every now and then he throws himself backward so I try to put a little padding behind him most of the time.

He can even turn around to look at me while he is sitting! Pretty impressive. It is nice to set him down with some toys to play with.

He is also getting up on all fours for a second at a time so I suppose his next feat will be scooting.

Lord help us.

A Nice Family Stroll

Today our little family was able to go for an evening walk because Evan took a late nap and could go to bed later. It was very nice and I must say I think these are some of the best pictures yet of Evan!

Happy Father's Day!

Alright finally the time and energy to post to the Blog!

My friend Lavanya's baby shower was this Saturday and I cohosted. She is due with her baby boy on August 14. The shower was a lot of fun and we had so much good food! I brought some home and James is STILL eating from the stockpile.

Here are some pictures of the lovely shower.

Today we went to brunch with Lavanya, her husbad Sharat and their/my friend Melissa from New Jersey. She flew in for the shower and is going back today. She is also my former roommate from NC State. She was excited to meet Evan and Lavanya and Sharat were excited to see him again. We enjoyed a great lunch at Tir Na Nog Irish Pub in downtown Raleigh.

Evan was pretty good and it was our first day out together as a family to eat. Fitting that it was Father's Day as well. I hope you all had a great Dad's day.

Grandma and Grandad's Day 1 and 2

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Evan has been having fun (despite the heat) visiting with our family up in Virginia. His cousin Tracy is working Evan up into a shrieking frenzy! Maryn joined the fun.

Taking a break from the heat! Evan is enjoying a dip in Grandma and Grandad's pool. He loves the waterfalls on the side of the pool and we swam back and forth and back and forth.

Evan's Latest Trick

Evan has been doing this the past couple of days. So maybe he will start commando crawling soon, who knows? He doesn't quite get that rolling or scooting can get him other places so he grunts and looks longingly in front of him. Finally his muscles give out and he lays on the floor, waiting for me to come flip him back over.

People have also been telling me they think Evan has more hair on his head! I had been thinking so but I wasn't sure if it was my imagination. I think it is a little thicker towards the back, what do you think?

Sick Day

Today Evan had a pretty good fever from the vaccines. It was 101.8 this morning and by this evening it was down to 100.00 so we are hoping it will be gone by tomorrow.

So I gave him medicine.

Evan cuddled with Chloe for some comfort, (for him not Chloe).

Then we just laid around in between naps.

Hopefully his fever will be gone tomorrow so we can make our playdate.

Six Month Well-Baby

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

Today was Evan's 6 month Well Baby appointment. As usual the shots didn't go over well, but thankfully we don't have to experience those again until 12 months.

Evan is 16 lbs., 8 oz. which is the 25th percentile in weight. The doctor said he gained more height than is peers going from the 25th percentile to the 50th percentile at 26.5 inches tall. His head was 17 inches around.

Evan is doing very well developmentally and was even fascinated with the paper on the examining table, he was pat pat patting it over and over again and ended up ripping it up. Our next appointment is at 9 months where thankfully we won't face any shots.

The pictures above are from after Evan's bath tonight. It was hot down here today at 94 degrees so we had the air conditioner on full blast. It was quite a shock to come out of a warm bath into the cool air so I wrapped Evan up. He seems a bit disturbed at the camera to say the least. He giggled at my reaction to him but each time the camera flashed he made that face! We also thought he looked like the flying nun.

A Swimmy Day

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Evan went to the pool for the second time ever today and this time James went too so we could get pictures! I picked up a floaty for Evan and he really enjoyed it. Though, sometimes he enjoyed the letters on the floaty more than the pool. The pool was very crowded with people enjoying the day and cooking out and drinking beer. Evan was the only kid there, but he certainly had all eyes and laughs on him he is such a cutie!

Evan is Six Months Old!

So Evan is six months old today! Six months seemed like forever when Evan was just an itty bitty back in December. Now here we are with our social, charismatic, no napping little boy.

Sometimes I hold Evan and think how big he is while other times for instance in the highchair, he looks so small across the room, his head no where near reaching over the back of it.

Also, when I look at a picture of Evan with James, Evan looks like my tiny baby. But when Evan and I are hanging out and playing together he is bigger than life.

He charms everybody whereever we go. Men and women alike are sucked into his inviting smile. We have to stop and socialize wherever we go because Evan is a little social butterfly.

Some of Evan's milestones include eating meat and veggies for dinner and fruits with cereal every morning. He frequently rolls back to front and front to back with ease, although he has not discovered quite yet that is a way to get around...

He can sit up for a couple minutes at a time and he seems to be making progress everyday with how straight and tall he sits on his own.

Evan shrieks to get my attention or will quietly say "urrrr urrrr" He knows when I am around but not in sight and he is often arching his back and worming around to try to see me if I am behind him.

He talks to his hands when he is bored or tired while clasping them together in front of him.

Evan has also been sleeping through the night very regularly in fact I think it is only once a month or so he may wake for some reason at an odd hour.

Evan's 6 mos well-baby appt. is on Monday so I will be sure to update his height and weight and any other issues.

Thanks for visiting! Love, The Cowgills.

Rainy Day Evan

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Today was a threatening to rain then drizzly rainy nasty day. We stayed inside all day and we are going to get out of the house tomorrow with Lori and her 8 mos. old son Vince! If it still rains tomorrow we will probably do something inside.

Evan is still loving his johny jumper, rain or shine!
